Valuable Information
The Message Of Pain

When we feel pain, our first impulse is often to eradicate it with medication. This is an understandable response, but sometimes in our hurry to get rid of pain, we forget that it is the body's way of letting us know that it needs our attention. A headache can inform us that we're hungry or stressed just as a sore throat might be telling us that we need to rest our voice. If we override these messages instead of respond to them, we risk worsening our condition. In addition, we create a feeling of disconnectedness between our minds and our bodies.

Physical pain is not the only kind of pain that lets us know our attention is needed. Emotional pain provides us with valuable information about the state of our psyche, letting us know that we have been affected by something and that we would do well to focus our awareness inward. Just as we tend to a cut on our arm by cleaning and bandaging it, we treat a broken heart by surrounding ourselves with love and support. In both cases, if we listen to our pain we will know what to do to heal ourselves. It's natural to want to resist pain, but once we understand that it is here to give us valuable information, we can relax a bit more, and take a moment to listen before we reach for medication. Sometimes this is enough to noticeably reduce the pain, because its message has been heard. Perhaps we seek to medicate pain because we fear that if we don't, it will never go away. It can be empowering to realize that, at least some of the time, it is just a matter of listening and responding.

The next time you feel pain, either physical or emotional, you might want to try listening to your own intuition about how to relieve your pain. Maybe taking a few deep breaths will put an end to that headache. Perhaps writing in your journal about hurt feelings will ease your heart. Ultimately, the message of pain is all about healing.

Understanding Oneness
Level Of Consciousness

Sometimes we look at the actions of others and find it difficult to understand what motivates them. But we are all doing the best we can with the information we currently have. We have all been taught how to see the world from the examples of those around us and by our experiences. Keeping this in mind, we can accept the choices made by others while seeking ways to increase the world's level of consciousness as a whole.

Our different levels of consciousness are like the developmental stages of children, whose understanding varies according to their age and experience. For example, the behavior of a two-year-old who doesn't want to share can be understood as a phase of his social education, whereas a 16-year-old who behaves in the same manner would be thought to be acting childish. It is important to remember that we are each on our own unique path. We may have chosen certain lessons or made an agreement to play certain roles in the unfolding of the world's understanding before we incarnated in this lifetime. So our job is not to judge others but to shift the balance of understanding in the world by increasing our own.

Every thought we have and action we take becomes part of the collective energy of the planet. When we use our energy to bring light into the world, it combines with the light brought by others to dispel the darkness. Though we live in a world of duality, which helps us to experience the material plane, we don't need to experience extremes to understand them. We can share our experiences and understanding with others not from a place of condescension but of connection. When the entire family of humanity understands that each of our thoughts, choices, and actions affect us all, we will share an incredible level of consciousness-one that puts our oneness above all else and helps us evolve into higher expressions of our spiritual selves. Remember the next time you witness an action of another that they are of the same earth as you but simply on a different conscious level at this point in their life. Find compassion, bless them, and move along your day in grace.

Just a quickie....

I don't read this lj much anymore, mainly because I don't feel the need to write about myself. Yet, I do keep an active quilting journal at [info]quiltingpirate.

I have acquired one of my dream jobs and loving ever exhausting moment of it. I'm working at a local quilting shop in Mt. Airy. I'm in the process of creating a few classes for the second quarter. Of course, my first paycheck is already spent on quilting stuff :D --one of the reasons I asked for the job :D

With the new year, new things are happening. Working out more often, new job, planning for a cruise, 40th birthday, and 20th marriage anniversary.....it's going to be an exciting year.

Hope everyone is well.

Happy Holidays

Just a quickie to say thank you for all the cards we have received this season. We love them all and I've slack a little on mine, so they will be at your home soon.

I haven't read this lj in over 4 weeks, so I hope everyone is well this season. We are spending this holiday with family and friends.

Enjoy the season and keep things simple. Remember what is the most important in your life.

Happy Holidays.

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

In June I put money in [info]anniebean's expired parking meter (14 points). Last Saturday I signed my organ donor card (28 points). In October I didn't flush (-1 points). In August I bought porn for [info]celticmist (-10 points). In January I helped [info]keptwench across the street (6 points).

Overall, I've been nice (37 points). For Christmas I deserve a pony!

Sincerely,
sunflwgal
